On Friday, Daniel and I drove up to Washington to see his brother get married in the Seattle temple. It was my first time there, and it was gorgeous. Besides the usual flowers and fountains, they also had bronze statues of families.
After the wedding, and the group pictures, we went to we went to Emily’s family’s house for lunch. Everybody changed into more comfortable clothes except for Daniel and me, who didn’t know about these plans, so we hadn’t brought extra clothes with us. Oh well. We helped set up, played with the kids, and chatted until it was time for everybody to put their dress clothes back on for the reception.
Sadly, it was such a hot day that the cake that they bought was melting in the heat. Daniel’s sister-in-law, Debbie, jumped to the rescue. She touched up what dripping frosting she could, and took the petals from the boutonnieres and decorated the cake with them. They say it looked good before, but after, it looked gorgeous! (The picture is after the repairs).
After cake was served, but just before the bouquet toss, I heard one of the bridesmaids talking with Emily. She said she just got off the phone with her boyfriend, where she said that she was planning on getting the bouquet, and if she got it, she wanted to take things up a notch. He said “ok.” She informed Emily that she wanted it, and she ended up getting it.
When the bride and groom got ready to leave, they got in this little red car that had a loud engine. It was a classy way to go off, except for the fact that it was a stick, and Ben had only practiced with a stick for a total of 15 minutes. He stalled it a few times getting it out of park, and then bunny hopped a bit before he was able to get it to the end of the highway. At least he was only going a block before transferring to their real car.
With them gone, Daniel and I headed for home. Unfortunately, what should have been a 3 hour journey turned to 4 1/2 hour journey thanks to construction on I-5. At least we made it home safe, and there are no more weddings this summer (though we keep teasing Daniel’s only single sibling that he still has 10 days left. He’s only 18 though).
