If you haven’t noticed on my sidebar, I made my goal for July. I wanted to write 10,000 words, and I wrote 10,234. That’s the most I’ve written in a month since I’ve been married. It felt really good to make it.
There’s another Book in a Month challenge going on for August, but I’m going to sit that one out. I have a long list of other things that need doing, including housework, that I put on hold for July. Also, I really want to get Trust Mother’s Instinct submitted this month. Maybe even within a couple weeks. It also doesn’t help that Rachel is having trouble sleeping through the night. I suspect she’s teething, but she’s so happy during the day, and I haven’t seen any signs of teeth yet, and its been going on for two weeks now. I’m wondering what else it could be, and what I could do for her.
Another fun tidbit about writing Phoenix Princess was that I incorporated a scene I wrote as a short story a few years ago. I’d done several drafts of that story, but still, as I read it, I could tell it was bad. It felt so good to redo it and put it in the novel where it really belonged. It just fit better, and I could tell my writing had improved. Hopefully, I’ve improved enough that I can get a sale soon!
