Remembering that I never checked mail yesterday, I just went out to my mailbox and discovered my SASE from Leading Edge. I was disappointed to see it, as I expected an acceptance to come via email. But it was thicker than my previous rejections from Leading Edge have been, so I had a glimmer of [...]

Heard from Asimov’s

I got my SASE back yesterday from Asimov’s. They included a form rejection along with the first page of my story. I’d told them it was disposable, but I assume they did that just so I knew which story they were rejecting, as the letter wasn’t personalized in any way. Oh well.
Next, I’m going to [...]
Blue Form of Death

My SASE returned Saturday from Realms of Fantasy with a so-called Blue Form of Death inside it. It’s called that because it’s a form rejection printed on a blue sheet of paper. One nice thing about it was that there was a handwritten note by the assistant editor saying that he didn’t click with this [...]

On Saturday, I got my SASE back from Leading Edge. With it came a form rejection along with three pages of comments. The main negatives were that I didn’t have enough details about this world and the characters in them. I know I write minimalistically, so that’s something I need to work on.
Will I work [...]
Insomnia Lost Writers of the Future Contest

I never expected to win the Writers of the Future Contest. I had hoped to make it into the finals though. Unfortunately, after returning from my Christmas vacation, I got a letter from the contest admistrator, postmarked December 19, saying, “Your entry did not place in the final selections for the 4th quarter 2006 Contest (June [...]
Leading Edge Rejected “Farseeing”

Yesterday, Daniel came in after getting the mail and tells me “You got a letter from yourself.” He handed it to me, and sure enough, our address was written in my handwriting. I opened it, thinking that it was a reply from Leading Edge. It was, which surprised me because I had only delivered my [...]
